The peak business organisation representing manufacturers and suppliers of quality dental products, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), has welcomed news that Ms Catherine King MP is to be the new Federal Shadow Health Minister.
"ADIA has a well-established working relationship with the Shadow Health Minister, having collaborated with Ms King during her time as Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing in the previous government. She has an excellent understanding of the challenges the dental industry faces and the need for red-tape reduction. We look forward to working with her in the pursuit of policy reforms that will support the growth and sustainability of Australia's dental industry", said Troy Williams, ADIA Chief Executive Officer.
ADIA is committed to advocating for change to therapeutic device regulation to ensure that the Australian community has access, within a reasonable time, to the latest therapeutic advances. ADIA strongly believes that the regulatory framework should be based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from an unnecessary regulatory burden. To this end, ADIA will also work closely with the new Shadow Health Minister's office in relation to regulatory reform.
The ADIA Advocacy Agenda sets out the policy reforms being sought by the Association and a copy of this document can be downloaded from: www.adia.org.au/advocacy
