CEREC Zirconia meso Block: secure screw-retained crowns for implants

Zirconia has proven itself throughout the past few years for the prosthetic treatment of implants. Crowns and bridges made of this material can be produced safely and very quickly right in the practice with the innovative CEREC Zirconia workflow.

With the CEREC Zirconia meso Block, Dentsply Sirona welcomes a product to the market that combines the outstanding properties of zirconia with an efficient clinical protocol. The translucent zirconia has a number of advantages, one being that it is very strong and biocompatible. Together with the screw fixation that makes cement superfluous, this ensures good and irritation-free adaptation to the gingiva. The CEREC Zirconia meso Block in this form is unique in the market.

Benefits in esthetics, function, and handling

The CEREC Zirconia meso Block consists of translucent, pre-shaded zirconia. The crown can be dry milled and subsequently sintered in the CEREC SpeedFire in around 24 minutes.

Together with the corresponding TiBases, customized screw-retained crowns- with a number of advantages- can be produced. The metal abutment base prevents abrasion on the inner geometry caused by micro-movements; the TiBase and crown can be joined together extra-orally, and risks that could arise from unclean adhesive surfaces can thus be eliminated. The abutment crown (TiBase plus crown) can be easily screwed onto the implant.

Dr. Peter Schneider, an experienced CEREC user from Heidelberg, Germany, stresses the clinical benefit – zirconia has the highest level of gingiva biocompatibility; the gum adapts very quickly to the crown. Furthermore, as a result of its high strength, the material ensures reliable treatment. Dr. Marco Ahonen values, above all, the reliability when manufacturing the prosthesis that a screw-retained solution provides. Even complex cases can be treated without problems.

The CEREC Zirconia meso Block is available in colors A1, A2, A3, and A3.5.

Faster, safer, and more comfortable for patients

"Chairside treatment of implants using CEREC enables a clearly structured and simple workflow that can reduce both the number of visits and also the overall treatment time," explained Dr. Frank Thiel, Group Vice President CAD/CAM at Dentsply Sirona. "Our new CEREC Zirconia meso Blocks fit perfectly on our TiBase. This means that both the implant insertion and the treatment with a full-contour zirconia crown can take place in just one visit. And that means a higher level of patient comfort."
