Created in one weekend and developed over the next three decades, OASiS is one of Australia's leading dental practice management software solutions. And this year, it is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
Developer Noel Morley was in the right place at the right time when a dentist came knocking at his door looking for a cost-effective solution for his multi-terminal practice. Noel's experience with networking, which was still in its early days, allowed him to create a software package that gave access to users across multiple terminals in a clinical environment. Initially used in medical practices, Noel was quickly able to tailor it for dental practice management and, in 1987, the dental version of OASiS was born.
Since then, OASiS has been continually refined and enhanced and it is now considered one of the most customisable dental practice management programmes in Australia. Not only does it allow customers to choose which components they wish to add on to the base module, it also allows for detailed customisation of the user interface and reports.
OASiS joined forces with Software of Excellence in 2005 and now enjoys the additional support and resource provided by this global leader in dental practice management software. Customer service, programming development skills and R&D are shared across the company, benefitting both OASiS and the other software solutions provided by Software of Excellence.
OASiS version 9, which was released twelve months ago, focuses on integration between the software and the internet, with online bookings just one of the popular new features. The streamlining of the web and technology also allows larger, multi-branch businesses to centralise their appointment booking in one place, with smart phones and devices also coming into play.
"The wheels of progress never stop turning and the team is already working on new and exciting enhancements", Mr Morley said, who remains closely involved with the company.
"Touch screen support, advanced recall management, online forms and other patient communication methods are just some of the exciting features that are planned for launch in the near future."
