Just one year after the successful launch of its e-learning platform, the ITI Online Academy, the International Team for Implantology (ITI), a leading academic organization dedicated to the promotion of evidence-based education and research in the field of implant dentistry, announced a significant extension to the ITI Online Academy with the introduction of the Campuses and Classrooms.
The ITI Online Academy Campuses and Classrooms will allow the ITI to better cater to the individual educational needs of its affiliates and partners by enabling them to set up their own learning environments within the ITI Online Academy. Campuses and their Classrooms are an excellent means to complement face-to-face learning and to offer educational materials and services to learning groups taking curricular courses. They allow Classroom tutors to add ITI Online Academy learning contents to their own pre-reads and material discussed in class for follow-up course work. Targeted Assessments allow for tracking the learning process of participants. Participants themselves also have the option to share and discuss their own contributions by means of Case Cloud and the closed forums.
Each ITI Section, for example, will be allocated its own Campus on which practitioners will have access to language-specific content such as Congress Lectures recorded at national ITI Congresses. And with the full integration of the ITI Study Clubs, the currently small number of pilot Classrooms will quickly grow: By the end of the year, the Online Academy Campus will be home to more than 650 individual learning communities – a global network of blended evidence-based education.
"One of the ITI's main aims is to become the leading academic provider of evidence-based education in implant dentistry," said Prof. Dr. David Cochran, ITI President. "ITI Online Academy Campuses provide a solid foundation for blended learning opportunities and therefore represent a further major step towards achieving this goal".
Since its launch in October 2014, the ITI Online Academy has experienced impressive and continuously growing traffic numbers. "With more than 200,000 visits and almost 3 million page views, the platform's performance during the first 12 months has by far exceeded our expectations," commented Dr. Stephen Chen, President-elect of the ITI and member of the Online Academy Task Force. "This success fuels our motivation to further extend the ITI Online Academy by adding content and developing new educational formats."
Interested institutions can set up their own Campus with different Classrooms or a Classroom on one of the ITI Section Campuses. More information on the application process will soon be available at academy.iti.org.
