Beyond Today's plans to develop a state-of-the-art $34-million health and wellbeing precinct on the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide have been welcomed by dentists keen to be part of a pioneering concept of co-located medical services within a complex of healthy workspaces.
That's the word from Beyond Today's managing director Adam Wright, who said its major appeal lies in its interconnected and designed-for-purpose health pods.
"The new health and wellbeing precinct and its proposed raft of co-located medical and health services is our response to a loud community call for a world class facility that offers just about every medical and health service under one roof, in an easily accessible location," Mr Wright said.
"Dentists we've spoken with have been most impressed by the concept of co-located complementary and allied services and their many synergies and benefits for the greater medical and health fraternity.
"Another key attraction is the fact that the health and wellbeing precinct will unfold on the outskirts of Port Eliot in the heart of a vibrant, growing and captive market characterised by Beyond Today's neighbouring residential and retirement villages and the region's major towns of Victor Harbor and Goolwa."
The Beyond Today health and wellbeing precinct will feature environmentally sustainable and energy efficient design to create healthy workspaces, where natural light abounds through airy consulting rooms, offices and retail outlets, all overlooking landscaped gardens with water features and, being north-facing, enjoying ample winter sunlight.
In addition to its dental offerings, it will comprise a general practice facility with an emergency department and pathology and pharmaceutical services; along with services such as chiropractic, massage, optometry, physiotherapy, radiology and other health-orientated practices.
The precinct is located adjacent to and connected with the currently-under-construction Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre via a large interconnecting green plaza. Construction is set to get underway later this year, with completion to coincide with the official opening of the aquatic centre in 2017.
"The entire project has the highest environmental standards and credentials and perfectly complements the aquatic centre to create a locale that, when completed, will provide the very best in this type of infrastructure and these services anywhere in the world," Mr Wright said.
Beyond Today is currently taking expressions of interest from groups that might see a fit for themselves within the precinct and consulting with these groups on a design-for-purpose construction that perfectly matches their needs.
