August is Colgate Oral Health Month

Colgate Oral Care will again host Oral Health Month, supported by the Australian Dental Association, in August this year.

The aim of Colgate's Oral Health Month is to "Help improve Australia's oral health" by focusing on 4 easy steps. People will be encouraged to brush twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste, use floss and mouth-wash as well as regularly visiting their dentist.

"We are again very happy to support Colgate as we have done in the past," said Robert Boyd-Boland, CEO, ADA Inc. "The ADA finds this to be a very effective campaign in educating the public on oral health."

The main features of Oral Health Month will include a dedicated webpage - www.oralhealthmonth.com.au - where people will be invited to take the "Oral Health Check" on-line and there will be a chance to win a $10,000 prize, TV advertising and in-store promotions.

Preschools will not be forgotten with a mail-out to encourage teachers to conduct oral health education sessions using Colgate's Bright Smiles Bright Futures™ kits.

This exciting campaign seeks to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health in the community. Dental surgeries in Australia should have received a special Oral Health Month Sample pack from Colgate Oral Care in July. The pack contains product samples and promotional materials to help support Oral Health Month.

The Oral Health Month Message

To ensure you have healthy teeth for life, Colgate recommends the easy "4-step regime":

  1. Brush - twice a day with fluoride toothpaste such as Colgate Total™ (or Colgate Sensitive Multi Protection if you're prone to tooth sensitivity), using a reliable toothbrush such as Colgate 360° Whole Mouth Clean, to reduce tooth decay;
  2. Floss - daily to get between teeth where your toothbrush can't reach, an important step that many leave out;
  3. Rinse - once or twice a day with a mouthwash such as Colgate Plax Overnight, to stop bacteria forming and keep bad breath at bay; and
  4. Visit – the dentist every six months for checkups and not just when you have a problem, remember prevention is the best cure!
  5. So remind your friends to go online, do the FREE Colgate Oral Health Check (www.oralhealthmonth.com.au) and then get going on the Colgate 4-step oral care regime! Together we CAN all help improve Australia's oral health!
