The pre-eminence of the ADX14 Sydney dental exhibition as Australia's premier dental event was underpinned with the announcement that the management team behind it has been named finalists in the 2014 EEAA Awards for Excellence. The Exhibitions and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA) is the peak association for the exhibition and event industry in Australia and New Zealand and its awards program highlights outstanding achievements in events and exhibitions.
This latest instalment of Australia's largest healthcare exhibition, held over 21-23 March 2014, brought together more than 8,000 stakeholders from across the dental community to see the latest products from Australia and overseas. It is convened biennially by the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), the peak business organisation representing manufacturers and suppliers of quality dental products.
"The dental industry have always said how appreciative they are at the quality of the ADX14 Sydney dental exhibition and the support they receive from ADIA national office staff, I therefore couldn't be more pleased that our staff are finalists in the best show team category in the EEAA Awards," said Troy Williams, ADIA Chief Executive Officer.
The EEAA awards nomination recognises the work of two key staff, the ADIA Exhibitions Manager, Ms Jan Van Dyk and the (then) ADIA Events Manager, Ms Alison Parry, who were responsible for much of ADX14 Sydney's success. Naturally, strategic direction and high-level oversight was provided by Mr Williams.
"Compared to events of a comparable size the ADX14 Sydney exhibition series was managed with a very little staff. The announcement that Ms Van Dyk and her team are finalists in the EEAA awards says a great deal about their professionalism and commitment to assisting ADIA member businesses," Mr Williams commented.
A key challenge overcome by the management team was the short, six month timeframe to adapt to the Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, the temporary home for Sydney's large exhibitions during the redevelopment of the Darling Harbour exhibition and entertainment complex. Taking over 10,000 square metres of floor space, ADX14 Sydney was held just one month after the new venue opened its doors following the decommissioning of the old Sydney Exhibition Centre.
"From a risk-management perspective virtually every indicator was red and the ability to arrive at solutions to a complex set of issues confronting ADIA was a herculean triumph of professionalism and skill on the part of the ADX14 Sydney management team," Mr Williams said.
Over thirty volunteer judges reviewed the submissions from event organisers, venue managers and suppliers across the industry. Each award submission was reviewed by three judges against specific criteria, and each entrant was asked to present clear evidence to substantiate their claims.
