ADIA Board Strengthened With Dentsply Sirona Appointment

Appointments and Promotions

The peak business organisation representing dental product manufacturers and suppliers, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), has appointed dental industry leader Mr Mike Stone to its Board.

With a distinguished career in the healthcare and medical technologies sector, Mr Stone arrived in Australia from the United States of America to take up the role of Managing Director of Sirona Dental Systems in May 2012. Following the merger of Sirona Dental Systems with Dentsply and the subsequent formation of Dentsply Sirona in early 2016, Mr Stone became the Australian head of the merged operation.

Joining the ADIA Board at a time when the Association embarks upon delivering the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan, Mr Stone said he was looking forward to utilising his experience to advance the interests of the entire dental industry.

"ADIA's vision for an industry that empowers oral health professionals to advance the health and well-being of all Australians is one I back without reservation. It reflects the important role that all member businesses play in supporting the work of dentists and allied oral healthcare," Mr Stone said.

Mr Stone's international experience will be invaluable to ADIA as it embarks upon a strategy that sees the Association focus on building the market for dental products, delivering great exhibitions, securing policy reforms from government and optimising member engagement.

"It's an exciting time for all ADIA member businesses, from the SMEs through to larger businesses. I look forward to working with ADIA as we build coalitions of individuals from the dental industry and dental profession to progress issues of shared interest," Mr Stone said.

Mr Stone earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of Rochester's Simon Business School. He joined the executive management team at Schick Technologies in 2000, and headed up the company from 2006 to 2012. Schick Technologies was a US-based company that designed, developed, and manufactured digital radiographic imaging systems and devices primarily for the dental market. Schick Technologies was acquired by Sirona Dental Systems GmbH, in a reverse merger transaction completed in 2006.
