The Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), the peak representative body for suppliers of quality dental products, has given its full support to the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) campaign, Small Business - Too Big To Ignore, in order to help bolster and unify the many voices of small business in their efforts to finally be heard by government and policy makers.
"Australia is built on small business. Suppliers of dental product number amongst the more than two million small businesses in Australia, employing over seven million people. That's over 60% of our workforce, yet governments continue to overtax, over-regulate and overlook the dental industry and other small businesses when setting policy," said Troy Williams, ADIA Chief Executive Officer.
ACCI is running this campaign to make the collective voice of small businesses heard and to show all politicians that, together, small business is too big to ignore.
"ADIA fully supports this initiative as many of our members also experience the numerous red tape and taxation burdens that hold back other small businesses throughout Australia," said Mr Williams.
The Small Business - Too Big To Ignore campaign works by providing resources for supporters to spread the word of the plight of small business. It also offers a forum for sharing their stories on what are the most pressing issues for small business, how are those issues affecting business growth, operations and employment opportunities, and also what the Government can do to give small business a fair go. "The dental industry comprises businesses that range in size from small family entities through to local operations of large, multinational therapeutic product suppliers. They share common aspirations for the growth of their business, the creation of jobs and the financial sustainability of the dental industry. To excel, these businesses will benefit from a reduction in red tape and lifting restrictions which limit flexibility and innovation," Mr Williams said.
This campaign augments the work of ADIA in supporting the growth and profitability of member businesses and complements the ADIA Advocacy Agenda to be launched by ADIA this month.
ADIA is a member of the ACCI, the nation's peak council of business organisations and the authentic voice of Australian enterprise and industry. It is a link that combines the capacity of the two organisations to represent the needs of not only the dental industry, but also the broader small business community.
