At its annual general meeting on 4 November 2016, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) elected Mr Phil Jolly of Ivoclar Vivadent as national president for a two-year term.
In accepting the appointment, Mr Jolly said his focus would be on delivering the outcomes set out in the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan that focuses ADIA on offering the services that can be employed by members businesses to foster growth, job creation and securing a sustainable industry.
"At ADIA, we recognise the symbiotic relationship that exists between the dental industry and dental profession. For this reason, our work will be focused on energising the stakeholders that have a shared interest in delivering initiatives that help our community achieve optimal oral healthcare outcomes," Mr Jolly said.
As the peak business organisation representing manufacturers and suppliers of dental products, Mr Jolly is looking forward to working with the ADIA Board, staff and members to raise the profile of Australia's dental industry.
"The outcomes of ADIA's new strategy include a raised awareness of the new and innovative patient treatment pathways the dental industry offers Australia's oral health community. The take-up of these new products depends on the sustainability of dental practices, so this will be a major focus of our work over the next five years," Mr Jolly said.
In taking up the role, Mr Jolly paid tribute to the outgoing ADIA National President, Mr Mike Covey of Henry Schein Halas.
"Mike provided the leadership that's allowed ADIA to consolidate the transformation that's taken place over the life of the previous strategic plan. As a result the dental industry is supported by an organisation that's financially secure, provides more market intelligence to members than ever before and is an incredibly effective advocate at a political level for the issues that are important to businesses across the dental industry, both big and small. Mike has left a legacy to be proud of," Mr Jolly said.
Having worked with Ivoclar Vivadent for twenty-two years, including eight as Managing Director of Ivoclar Vivadent in Australia, in 2015 Mr Jolly was appointed Global Region Senior Manager at Ivoclar Vivadent. His responsibilities include market assessment and new business development across the Asia-Pacific region. He is the current President-Elect of the Association of International Dental Manufacturers (IDM), and will assume the IDM Presidency in 2018.
In concluding his comments, Mr Jolly acknowledged the support he will receive from the newly elected ADIA National Vice President, Mr Craig Young of A-dec International.
