ADA Congress Adelaide draws a crowd

The ADA dental congress in Adelaide has proven a great success, with a full complement of exhibitors and a packed lecture program.

The Congress was held from May 1-4 in the Adelaide Exhibition Centre, right in the heart of Adelaide. The venue is also close to the medical precinct including the relatively recently completed Adelaide Dental Hospital and Adelaide University buildings.

Much more than a state-based affair, flocks of interstate dental practitioners attended the event, which combines a large industry exhibition with a comprehensive scientific program aimed at amassing CPD points.

Long time exhibition participant, Simon Taggart, marketing manager at A-dec, said the event attracted a great deal of interest and sales enquiries for the latest equipment.

The exhibition also coincided with A-dec's 35th anniversary in Australia. A cocktail party and ceremonial cake cutting at the A-dec stand, performed by A-dec's Regional Director of International Sales, Craig Young and General Manager, Patrick Jones, marked the occasion.

The A-dec stand was teaming with visitors especially during the breaks between scientific sessions. The stand also featured practical sessions with dentist and advocate for improved occupational health for dental professionals, Dr Aniko Ball, from Melbourne.

Dr Ball gave practical advice about avoiding musculoskeletal injury in the workplace, demonstrating how optimum dental posture can be maintained while using ergonomically-designed dental equipment.

Among the multitude of other displays of interest was that of Adelaide-based company, Dental Concepts, which demonstrated its Virtual Reality technology to assist those building a surgery to visualise the end result.

Dental Concepts is a one-stop shop for surgery design, construction and supply of specialist dental equipment, including A-dec, W&H and Acteon as well as being a service facility for those brands.
