The Australian Asian Association of Dentists (AAAD) has gained a reputation as one of the more active and progressive study clubs who meet regularly for both in the pursuit of information and entertainment.
With two more meetings left this year, one of which is the now legendary AAAD Christmas bash, if you are not a member of the AAAD, now is the time join!
Formed in March of 1994, this multicultural society has now grown into one of Sydney’s largest independent study clubs. The key objectives of the club are:
- To provide a forum for professional and social exchange of information and ideas amongst members;
- To conduct continuing dental education and research in professional skills and knowledge of members; and
- To promote professional standards and camaraderie of it’s members.
That’s the official line, but in my experience there should be a fourth objective mentioned which is to ensure a healthy dose of fun is included.
Membership is drawn from all branches of the industry - general dentists, specialists, technicians and hygienists are all members. This broad forum is conducted in an environment of friendship and learning through quarterly evening dinner meetings.
Excellent speakers are provided to give presentations which are relevant to the profession from a clinical, practice, marketing or financial perspective. As an added value service, members of the association will often get discounts to continuing education courses. The association is also renowned for it’s good food, fantastic prizes, fantastic golf days and comradeship.
