"Famous Odysseus, great glory of Achaea, draw near, and bring your ship to rest, and listen to our voices. No man rows past this isle in his dark ship without hearing the honeysweet sound from our lips. He delights in it and goes his way a wiser man..."
Homer, The Odyssey, Book XII
Dear colleagues,
Don't you agree?
After all, what appears to be the easiest way is often the most difficult! Every day, enticing opportunities and special offers chase us. Sometimes we are bewitched by promises made by advantageous prices, but in certain contexts, what we need is just the wisdom of the heroic Odysseus. Awareness and culture help us discern when downward price trends can be risky. In a medical context, "the lowest price logic" can be very dangerous, as it can conceal inadequate materials, poor precision or non-conformity to international standards.
Just for a few dollars less, you compromise years of work and effort. In the care of a patient, a few extra dollars are important! Which wine connoisseur would offer the cheapest wine to his guests? Or which vintner would agree to sell his wine to whom complains the product's high price, despite recognising its refinement? A good product must be sold at the right price and to the right clients - those who are able to appreciate it. If you do your job well, then you are good: this means that you work with concern, devotion and quality. If you are good, then you are also expensive, which does not mean costly! Although it may be high, your price is appropriate for the service you provide - the same service that allows you to create a relationship of trust with your customers.
