A diamond paste-like gloss in the convenience of a rubberised system

Direct restorations offer the unique challenge of balancing aesthetics with productivity and the tools used to finish and polish can have a significant impact on this equation.

With traditional rubber points, cups, discs and brushes, achieving an aesthetic result can be difficult and can take up valuable clinician time. And with diamond paste, the polishing procedure can be messy and involve extra steps. To create a simple and effective two-step polishing option, 3M leveraged its expertise in abrasives to create the Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System. The system imparts diamond paste-like gloss with the convenience of a rubberised system.

The Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System contains two spirals: The Sof-Lex™ Pre-Polishing Spiral (beige) smooths and removes scratches in restorations that develop during contouring and prepares the surface for final polishing. The Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing Spiral (pink) is embedded with diamond particles to deliver a gorgeous paste-like gloss. The flexible spirals adapt to all tooth surfaces - anterior and posterior, convex and concave - and can be used from any angle. As an economical choice, the spirals can also be sterilised and reused.

The system is designed to work together with 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme XTE Universal Restorative to provide an easy aesthetic outcome. The new polishing system maximises 3M's nanocomposite technology, resulting in restorations that achieve and maintain a high gloss.
