Asco Industries is distributing a totally new concept in dental lighting that incorporates state-of-the-art technology including fibre optics to produce a concise, homogeneous lighting pattern.
Called Lucy™, the internationally patented development provides a light with correct colour temperature of 5300 Kelvin, a Chromatic Yield Index of 90 at whatever intensity and is fully adjustable from 8000 to 25000 lux at 700mm via a remote control. All this is achieved as well as glare control for the patient and dentist.
The combination of these advantages assures correct light for matching shades for aesthetic and cosmetic procedures which is more difficult with conventional lighting. The dual eye feature on the Lucy lighthead virtually eliminates induced shadows as can happen at critical points in the procedure.
"Lucy is a revolutionary product," said Mr Andrew Sneddon, managing director of Asco Industries. "The manufacturers have analysed exactly what dentists need in terms of lighting and then achieved this by developing a unique new concept that eliminates many of the problems with traditional light designs.
"The shapely contours of the European design allows easy manoeuvrability and cleaning and the totally cold lighthead averts danger and discomfort for both patient and dentist as well as preventing premature curing of composites."
Lucy is available in a range of mounting styles to suit all applications, including floor mount, mobile, ceiling and track mount.
"And, for the ultimate in dental lighting, where the discerning dentist wishes to conform fully with the guidelines set out in the International Standards for lighting, then you can't go past the Scyalux," Mr Sneddon said.
"The Scyalux incorporates all the benefits of Lucy on a track mounting, attached to a ceiling mounted fluorescent light with 6 colour correct tubes. Intensity for the ceiling mount is adjustable via a wall switch. The Lucy lighthead is infinitely adjusted by electronic remote."
