Around 6000 dental professionals attended Australia’s premier dental exhibition, ADX14 in March.

It was the first time the event has been held at the temporary new Sydney Exhibition Centre, located near at Glebe Island on the Sydney Harbour foreshore close to the ANZAC Bridge.

ADIA Exhibition Committee Chairman and Marketing Manager for A-dec Australia, Simon Taggart, said foot traffic at the new venue was particularly strong, particularly in the central exhibits.

“A number of exhibitors reported a very robust level of interest and genuine sales enquiries. By all accounts the move to the new temporary venue near Sydney Harbour has been a success and augurs well for the next event,” Mr Taggart said.

There was also strong attendance at the series of lecture sessions on topics of relevance to dental practitioners, practice managers and owners across the three days of the exhibition.

Analysis of registrations showed the overwhelming majority of visitors were dental practitioners (43%) in addition to practice managers and other clinical staff.

As one of the event’s major exhibitors, A-dec mounted a large display including its award-winning A-dec dental units, specialized dental cabinetry and other equipment.

This included the award-winning A-dec LED operatory light and new A-dec 400 patient chair (launched in late 2013), which has many of the features of the class-leading A-dec 500 dental chair at a more affordable price point.

The flagship A-dec 500 dental unit also made a strong statement, showcasing the latest ‘Colours of A-dec’ range of seamless and stitched upholstery options, including eye-catching ‘fuschia’ pink which attracted a lot of comment.

A-dec’s partner, W&H also used this year’s ADX event to launch its keenly awaited new multi-head Assistina 3x3 automated handpiece cleaning and lubricating system which sets a new benchmark in handpiece maintenance.

The new Assistina is the first to provide a validated process for the complete and external and internal cleaning and lubrication of transmission instruments, including internal drying prior to sterilization.

Meawhile A-dec’s digital imaging partner, Acteon exhibited the revolutionary Acteon ‘X-Mind Unity’ X-ray system which reduces radiation exposure by up to 52%* over previous digital X-ray generators, thanks to Acteon’s patented Automatic Controlled Exposure (ACE) system.

The new X-Mind ‘Unity’ has a class-leading 0.4 mm focal spot and adjustable kV, mA and exposure time, ensuring a sharp and optimally contrasted image, providing outstanding clarity with defined contours and optimal exposure.

The major advantage of the new system is that once the patient has received the necessary dose, the Sopix2 inside sensor communicates with the X-ray generator to stop X-ray emissions. The reduced radiation also prevents over-exposure and prolongs the life of the sensor.

Unlike earlier units, the new X-Mind Unity features an integral Sopix2 digital sensor that eliminates messy external cabling, making it easier to use and aiding in asepsis. More information on the products on display at the A-dec, W&H and Acteon stands is available from A-dec Territory managers in each state.
