3Shape has launched a full schedule of training courses under the 3Shape Academy banner in Australia in support of its growing user base. Training courses can be booked through Dentevents.com. 3Shape has established itself over the past decade as a leading supplier of 3D scanners and software solutions to dental professionals. It's portfolio of products includes the multi award-winning 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner, benchtop laboratory scanners and market-leading scanning and design software solutions.
"3Shape has been selling scanners and software in Australia for more than 10 years through a number of resellers and as a result, we have a large group of 3Shape users in both dental laboratories and dental practices," said Peter Tabor, Regional Manager, Oceania at 3Shape. "In support of this, we opened an office in Sydney in 2017 and the next step for us now is to open a 3Shape Academy in Australia, which we already have running in around 15 other countries.
"The Academy provides our users with everything from basic to advanced training on our scanners and software. Up until now, our resellers have been doing a great job at training customers on the 3Shape systems that they supply and this will of course continue. Users have also contacted us directly to request additional training, for example, when new staff join the practice or lab or in other cases, for more advanced training on our specialist software solutions."
Mr Tabor said that when 3Shape opened its Sydney office, a team of three trainers had been employed to provide support to resellers. This team is also delivering the Academy training courses.
"Our three trainers specialise in different aspects of our portfolio," he said. "Joseph Tavella specialises in training and supporting dental laboratories; Richard Schuhmacher concentrates on dental practices and the use of our products in implantology; and Naomi Stojoski specialises in the use of our products in orthodontics. We hired professionals with a lot of experience working in clinics and laboratories to help us deliver the actual training and together, they have more than 60 years of dental experience.
"The training courses we're offering cover our entire range of products for dental laboratories and dental clinics. At present, the training is based in our Sydney office and it's hands-on using computer workstations with our software and scanners."

Mr Tabor said that in the future, 3Shape would look to also offer training in different locations around Australia.
"The 3Shape Academy has only just started, so we're gauging the response from users so we can tailor the programs and the schedule based on their requirements and overall demand. We're running more than 40 courses in 2019, which is quite an ambitious number, but it's essentially based on requests so far.
"We're offering everything from introductory courses on the TRIOS intraoral scanner to very specialised, high end, advanced training on products like 3Shape Implant Studio.
"The courses we have launched so far are for existing users but we're also planning to launch an introduction course on digital dentistry soon. What we saw in the market five years ago was people saying, 'Oh maybe one day I'll start with digital dentistry.' Then, they said, 'I'm going to start with digital dentistry,' and now they say, 'How am I going to start with digital dentistry?' Everybody recognises that this is where dentistry is going and the 3Shape Academy is designed to help everyone in dentistry to progress along that path."
