For many years now, when manufacturing its instruments at the Bensheim site – from research and development to final production – Dentsply Sirona has relied on typical German quality factors. These are put into practice in the company's own instrument hall in Bensheim. Since 2013 the site has boasted the dental industry's most modern production facilities for manufacturing instruments. This level of quality signifies a tradition as we remember the first electric dental drill constructed by William Niendorff with the help of a precision engineer in 1887 in Erlangen.
Quality is part of Dentsply Sirona, just like the Oktoberfest is part of Germany
In terms of quality, three typical German values more than any other play a decisive role in the development and production of the company's innovative instruments: thoroughness, reliability and inventiveness. Alongside the famous words "Made in Germany," a mark of quality, the Oktoberfest is yet another thing that comes to mind when people think of Germany. Because quality is just as fundamental to Dentsply Sirona as the Oktoberfest is to Germany, last year we launched the global campaign "speaking deutsch" on the basis of these three "German virtues."
"Are you German enough for the Oktoberfest?"
To kick off the campaign in August 2016, a born and bred German explained what it was all about and encouraged people to take part in the competition. "Are you German enough for the Oktoberfest? Say the three magic German words to win a trip to the event." For applicants, that meant recording a video, posting it on social media and giving it the hashtag #speakingdeutsch. With any luck, the most creative competitor would could travel with a guest to Munich for this year's Oktoberfest.
Since then, videos have flooded in from all over the world, including Taiwan, Mexico, Brazil and many other countries. With 3.5 million views, 11,000 clicks and plenty of entries, the campaign is clearly a worldwide hit. Now, the best entry has been selected.
And the winner is...
Tatiana, from Brazil! Her cheerful personality as she named the three magic words "Gründlichkeit", "Zuverlässigkeit" and "Erfindergeist," wearing a dirndl, won over the judges and she will be traveling to Munich this fall for the Oktoberfest. Tatiana has decided to turn it into a family trip with her mother and father. For all three, it will be their first time in Germany, so they have extended their stay to get to know the country and its people better. They, therefore, can obtain their own impression of how people live in the country and find out first-hand about the values of thoroughness, reliability and inventiveness, and about Dentsply Sirona's promise of quality.
"And we mustn't forget the second and third places on the podium, of course," enthused Jan Siefert, Group Vice President of Dentsply Sirona Instruments: "Second place goes to Ernesto in Mexico with his entry. Steve from Taipei comes in third." They are each pleased to win a power bank for their cell phone.
